Update on Maya: Kicking off our fundraising efforts for research to directly benefit Maya and people with similar disorders.

Suzette and I are very excited to announce, that after several months of investigation, we have decided to fund a four year research project at the Jan and Dan Duncan Neurological Institute at Texas Children's Hospital, in Houston, Texas.  We have spent considerable time collaborating with Dr. Marco Sardiello, the Principal Investigator, and his team to design a research project that is intended to directly benefit Maya and people with similar disorders.

Suzette and I have funded the first year of this project, which will commence May 2, 2016.

We are asking for your support to help contribute what you can to fund years two, three and four of the project.  100% of donations made directly to Texas Children's Hospital go directly to this research project.

Donations to Texas Children's Hospital can be made in two ways:

1. Online by clicking on this link (http://waystogive.texaschildrens.org/scar7that will take you to the Texas Children's Donation page for SCAR7 research.

You may make your donation in honor of "Maya James".

or

2. By mail:

Please include a note with your donation indicating that it is to be used for “Dr. Sardiello’s work at the NRI on SCAR7”.  Your check should be made out to Texas Children's Hospital.

Texas Children's Hospital is a non-profit organization.  If you work for a corporation that matches donations, we ask that you take the extra steps to request a matching contribution.  Matching details are provided in the online donation option or by contacting Kristen Miller (see below).  Texas Children's EIN number is 74-1100555.

If you run into problems or need to speak with someone about a donation, please contact Kristen Miller (832) 824-2937 at Texas Children's.  Kristen has been phenomenal in helping us with logistics at Texas Children's.

Please also feel free to contact me with any questions.  Let me know if you would like to learn more of the technical details about the project.  I would be happy to put you in contact with Dr. Sardiello.

As I mentioned, we are extremely excited to support this project and greatly appreciate your continued love and support.  Please feel free to share this message with your network.
